Economy Barn Doors

Our Economy doors are strong, functional, and attractive. They’re built to withstand day-to-day use for years to come. Even better, these doors are rust- and rot-proof, and require minimal maintenance. Economy doors come standard with specially-formulated aluminum alloy that’s lightweight and made to last a lifetime.

Economy barn doors represent a practical and durable solution with a rich history of functionality and cost-efficiency. These doors are designed to withstand the rigors of daily use, reflecting their value as a long-lasting investment. Crafted from a specially-formulated aluminum alloy, they boast both strength and lightweight properties. Their resistance to rust and rot minimizes maintenance, making them a hassle-free choice for barn owners. The historical evolution of such doors showcases an ongoing commitment to providing sturdy, reliable, and low-maintenance solutions, ensuring that barns remain secure and visually appealing for generations to come.

Elite Barn Doors

Our Elite barn doors have all the same benefits and features as our Economy barn doors, but the two styles differ in terms of their panels. Elite barn doors have a tongue & groove beaded aluminum panel, while Economy doors have a smooth, galvanized painted sheet that’s laminated onto treated plywood.

With our Elite barn doors, there is also the option of adding genuine wood inserts to really give the door an elegant feel.

The utilization of elite barn doors gained prominence as equestrian enthusiasts and barn owners sought to combine both functionality and aesthetics. Elite doors, known for their superior craftsmanship and design, started being used as a way to enhance the overall appearance of barns while maintaining the structural integrity and security of the building. They offer a premium solution that caters to the evolving demands of horse barn aesthetics and modern design, reflecting a commitment to excellence.

Read Our Barn Door FAQ's

What’s your process for building exterior barn doors?

Our process for building exterior barn doors begins with welding the doors, followed by grinding the face welds flush for a seamless appearance. After this, we blast and prime the doors before applying a powder coating for a robust and long-lasting finish.

For the glass installation, we use caulk strips and trim strips. These serve a dual purpose – they secure the glass in the door frame and offer a polished, professional look.

How do you secure exterior sliding doors?

Exterior sliding doors may be secured with the jamb latches which are provided with the hardware package or with Cane bolts into the concrete. Locking hardware may be fitted to the exterior of the door as needed.

How do you weatherproof exterior doors?

Doors are coated with a primer coat and then powder-coated to protect from weathering.

What kind of materials do you use for outdoor barn doors?

Sunset Valley Metalcraft uses Aluminum material (guaranteed not to rot or rust) and 3/16” clear tempered glass when applicable.

Does Sunset Valley Metalcraft install exterior barn doors, or do you only design and manufacture them?

We are proud to have our own in-house team do all the design, manufacturing, and installing of all our products.

What is Sunset Valley Metalcraft’s process for quoting an exterior barn door?

We start by obtaining the rough opening and specifications of the door – glass, colors, etc.

We then provide an estimate to the customer. When the estimate is approved, then drawings of the doors are sent to the customer for review.

If preferred, Sunset Valley Metalcraft will travel to the job site and take all measurements needed.

How long does it take Sunset Valley Metalcraft to build and install custom exterior barn doors?

This depends on the backlog for production timing. The availability of glass delivery, if applicable, also affects timing. More complex door projects or custom finishes may also take more time. However, for most exterior door projects, we can have the doors finished and ready for installation in 3-4 weeks.
